Dusty Hill Winery was the start of our dream, it is a highly regarded small volume vineyard owned and operated by our family. The Winery is the centre piece of The Prendergast Vineyard Retreat, overlooking picturesque Lake Barambah, located just below the small village of Moffatdale, in southern Queensland.
By road our two nearest towns are Murgon or Goomeri, with Kingaroy slightly further afield.
We commenced building our dream during the seventh year of a drought. Our vines were planted on an unnamed piece of land on the side of a dusty hill. From this humble beginning we now produce premium wine from grapes grown at the Dusty Hill Vineyard.
Like all people with passion, who are attracted to the romance of making wine, we soon realised that, whilst our wines were of great quality, we had to offer more to attract visitors to our 'little piece of paradise'.
Initially we struggled with the concept of completely 'open door' hospitality, now 15 years on, just like our vines, we have matured and welcome you into our home, and hope that you can experience a part of our dream.
The cafe is now renovated and extended to include 'Prendergasts Tavern.' In keeping with our approach to food service and fine dining, the tavern will offer a choice of daily specials served with Queensland and selected wines. Designer beers, stout, cider and mixed drinks are also available. Prendergasts Tavern, unique in the South Burnett, now offers you a serious dining alternative alternative to our acclaimed Cooperage Restaurant.The Tavern is perfect for lighter lunches or 'Sundowner' drinks and dinner at the end of the day.
Prendergast's Vineyard Retreat and Dusty Hill are the perfect overnight location to stay and dine with us, especially if you are planning to visit and drive the South Burnett Food & Wine Trail which runs from Nanango at the southern end of the South Burnett's designated wine region through to Moffatdale at the northern end. The South Burnett Wine Trail is 200km from Brisbane, 150km from Toowoomba, 175km from Noosa and 145km from Maryborough.
Along the South Burnett Food and Wine Trail (or Barambah Wine Trail, as locals refer to it) you can sip wine at other family run cellar doors, most with sweeping valley views, indulge in the freshest of gourmet food and draw in the invigorating country air. With more than fifteen cellar doors in the region there is a wide variety of wine and food for you to experience.
Prendergasts Vineyard Retreat and Dusty Hill Winery is fast becoming known as a destination for wine lovers, tourists and local residents who are developing a taste for our wines and hospitality.
